Tessarakonta -- Day 38

38th Day, Thursday, April 17, 2014

Charles Fillmore tells us that "Gethsemane" is a symbol of the struggle that takes place within our consciousness when Truth is realized as the one Reality.  It is a condition that we work through when we recognize that God/Good is all and that we must be willing to change all for God/Good.

There are always deeply rooted error thoughts stored away in the subconscious, and on their own account, they come forward to ‘crucify’ us.  They particularly dislike a new Idea of Truth.  But the Idea of Truth cannot be destroyed by lies and will always be victorious.  In a sense, the only thing crucified is the crucifying thoughts because ‘what goes around comes around’ and a destructive thought seeking to destroy that which is Life can only destroy its own self.

That which dies on the cross are the error beliefs; the Truth resurrects unharmed and unaffected by the cross.  But we don't necessarily know this (and certainly don't believe it) while we are in Gethsemane.

This breaking up and passing away of old error states of mind and making ready for the New is a process in soul evolution of all those who are faithfully following Truth.  The human race has been in bondage to error and evil.  Our True Self teaches us to quicken the Inner Light of Divine Understanding, the Light that would cause the darkness of error to vanish.

Yielding up our error thoughts might seem terrifying to our subconscious and it might fight bitterly to cling to what’s familiar.  It may feel like a difficult thing to release some of these long-held ideas.  But knowing the Truth sets us free.  And, as we trust and develop faith in the Goodness of Life, we eventually are willing to let all the lesser ideas go.

Never-the-less.  Always the Greater.
